MEET

Maria Cofer

Originally from Macdoel, California, Maria Cofer built an accomplished racing career defined by determination, consistency and championship success in open wheel competition.

Maria made history by becoming the first female RBO 250 Champion, earning championships in 2014 and 2015. She continued her success by capturing back-to-back BCRA Championships in 2017 and 2018, establishing herself as a formidable competitor in midget racing.

In 2021, Maria became the inaugural driver for Abacus Racing, making the team’s debut appearance at the BC39. During her time with the organization, she recorded multiple heat race victories and a quick qualifying time at Gas City, narrowly missing the track’s midget record by just four-thousandths of a second.

Maria also competed in the No. 57 Abacus Racing pavement midget at the Indianapolis Raceway Park throughout 2022 season.

In October 2022, Maria announced her retirement from racing following an injury earlier that year, choosing to prioritize her long-term health. Her accomplishments and contributions remain an important part of Abacus Racing’s history.
